President's Message

Leading PNA-NY for the past year opened opportunities for me to grow personally and professionally. I am privileged to meet individuals who provided strong guidance with my leadership skills. By representing PNA-NY in numerous professional events, I increased my awareness and motivation to continuously advocate for nurses' well being. I truly believe that by promoting advocacy, nurses benefit tremendously in increasing their skill sets and clinical knowledge, thus allowing them to effectively provide safe patient care.

  • Measure of Success: Continued visibility and execution of collaborative projects with nursing and community groups.

The concrete execution of activities to accomplish the three goals identified during our strategic planning is very fulfilling. However, there is more work ahead for PNA-NY. The next step is to have a continuity of these activities including a formal evaluation process to identify projects that can truly benefit our members, our community, and PNAA as a whole.

Likewise, we need to generate more funding to support these projects. This will be the primary focus for 2007-2008 - keep PNA-NY fiscally stable. For the past 15 years, PNA-NY's membership fee had remained at $30/year. With inflation prices, and increased membership dues to PNAA, it is challenging to keep the membership fee at the same rate fifteen years ago. The Board had approved an increase of membership fee and you will be getting a formal announcement in the mail. Thank you in advance for your renewal and affirmation to be a member of PNA-NY.

The year 2008 is election time. I encourage you to volunteer your skills and talents and run for office. Collectively, we have the knowledge and experience to address relevant social, political, and health care issues impacting nurses and our patients. I believe that the continuous commitment and leadership that each and every board member provides to PNA-NY will inspire other Filpino-American nurses to step-up and help shape the growth of the organization. Be a part of the electoral process.

Taos-puso akong nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng mga tumulong para umunlad ang PNA-NY para sa kapwa nating Pilipino. My heartfelt appreciationg for all of you who helped move PNA-NY forward as a professional organization for Filipino-American nurses.

Mabuhay ang Pilipino and God Bless the Nurses!

All the best,
